What will be the biggest casino complex in Europe?

This is a huge project, scheduled for 2021, and they want the largest Casino complex in Europe. The Mediterranean City of Dreams required an investment of 600 million euros and is expected to produce a profit of 700 million euros a year, with more than 300,000 visitors. The project was brought by a successful duo, Melco and CNS Group, who chose South Cyprus for its natural beauty but also expect a significant impact on the country’s economy. The Limassol 2021 project envisions a huge resort with many attractions and entertainment options, recreation facilities, conferences, exhibitions, which have not been available in South Cyprus before.

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades is very pleased with the strategic collaboration of the public and private sectors to meet the terms and date of the contract and marked this event as a historic one, a date for the beginning of the largest integrated casino resort in Europe but also for the fact that this event marks the first expansion of the Melco Company outside of Asia.

In total, the investment in the first integrated casino resort in Cyprus, the only one of its kind in Europe, will exceed 500 million euros, according to the Minister of Energy, Trade, Industry and Tourism, Giorgos Lakkotrypis. It is expected to be Europe’s largest casino resort to date, with 136 gaming tables, 1,200 gaming machines, a 500-room luxury hotel with expansion capacity, a 6,000-seat conference hall square meters, with an audience capacity of 1,500 and a Spa center covering 4,000 square meters, according to the minister.

Moreover, City of Mediterranean Dreams brings with it more than 4,000 jobs in the construction phase and 2,400 jobs in the fully operational phase. After the second year of operation, the integrated resort is expected to contribute approximately €700 million per year to the Cyprus economy, representing approximately 4% of the country’s annual GDP.

The resort offers a five-star hotel with luxury villas, 500 rooms, 11 restaurants and cafes, shopping area and a sports center. As of 28 June 2018, a temporary casino was opened and the approval of 4 more satellite casinos, Nicosia, Larnaca, Famgusta and Paphos, is pending.

The casino complex aims to put Cyprus on the map as an entertainment destination and is expected to attract tourists from all over the world and not only Europe. The second point where emphasis is placed is that of conferences, where contracts have already been signed with Great Britain, Dubai and Greece.

The country’s economy went into recession in 2013 and only last year saw positive growth of 4%, thanks to a combination of austerity and a 10 billion euro loan from the IMF and the EU. With the partial opening of the City of Mediterranean Dreams, the economy took a first leap towards stabilization and last year alone saw a record 500,000 tourists, who spent over 2 million euros, including casino games .
